Chromatologies
Umol Xsapida, Rotherham
Chromatologies is a festival of art and music curated by the artists Mark Fell and Matt Steel (also known as SND). It took place in Rotherham in 2010 and featured a wide array of International artists including Carsten Nicolai, Frank Bretschneider, Oval, Carl Michael von Hausswolff and Evol. The Chromatologies festival promotes a belief that art is primarily about experience, not understanding; about the act of seeing and hearing – not an intellectual analysis of what is seen or heard. The branding and design relates to an understanding of chromatology as the study of colour and this is celebrated through typography and multicoloured gradients.
